Here's Your First Look at "The Fosters" Spin-Off, "Good Trouble"

"We've got to find out where they belong in the world."

Fans of the long-running Freeform drama were disappointed when the show was canceled earlier this year—but The Fosters executive producers Bradley Bredeweg, Peter Paige, and Joanna Johnson revealed in a statement that the characters fans have grown to love will be continuing their journey in a new spin-off, Good Trouble.

From what we can gather, the series will focus on Mariana and Callie, in the spirit of The Fosters and The Bold Type. Good Trouble will be a journey for the girls to find themselves in Los Angeles. "They settle in L.A., thinking they've got it made," Paige says in the series promo. "And it turns out that things are not going to be quite as perfect as they have planned."

Johnson puts it simply: "We've got to find out where they belong in the world."

The title came from millennials who have inspired the spirit of the series—"...stirring up ‘good trouble’ as they grow, strive and struggle to make the mess of their early twenties into the message," the team said in a joint statement when Good Trouble's title was announced.

But like any other good spin-off, some favorites from the original are expected to make appearances. Hayden Byerly, who played Jude on The Fosters, will reprise his role. It's also been hinted that Brandon (David Lambert) will make an appearance.

Good Trouble is set to premiere in January 2019.
