"The Fosters" Teen Star Gets YouTube To Unblock Gay Kiss
ABC Family's The Fosters made TV history when it featured the youngest same-sex kiss between 13-year-olds, Jude Foster and his friend Connor — affectionately known about the interwebs as Jonnor. Fairly controversial when it was originally aired earlier this month, until recently YouTube had a video of the kiss restricted to ages 18 and up.
On Sunday, in a series of tweets that have since been deleted, Gavin MacIntosh, who plays Jude, blasted YouTube for blocking the video:
WHAT?! YouTube blocking #jonnor scene w/ age restrictions? 100% discrimination & homophobia! SO innocent compared to what's on YouTube!
YouTube was quick to respond, removing the age restrictions by Monday and issuing the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
When it's brought to our attention that a video or channel was age-gated incorrectly, we act quickly to fix it.
It's probably best that we sidestep the fact that YouTube was trying to reserve a video of tweens kissing for adult eyes only and just briefly relish in what a well-timed hashtag can accomplish. #jonnor
