New LGBT Streaming Service “Revry” Is The Gay Netflix We Need

Who doesn't want to cook with drag queens?

A brand new streaming service for Apple TV and Chromecast is filling the LGBT void where other services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video fall short.

The Revry app, which was launched this summer, boasts a library of exclusively LGBT content from independent producers around the world, including web series, short films, documentaries, music videos and more.

Currently, a handful of “queerated” shows are available on Revry, including Australian lesbian series Starting From… Now, After Orange, a docu-series about the lives of queer women after incarceration, and Cooking with Drag Queens, a self-explanatory gag-fest with episodes including Drag Race favorites like Lady Bunny, Trixie Mattel, and Darienne Lake.

According to MacWorld’s Oscar Raymundo, Revery creators began working on the app when Apple released the fourth generation Apple TV, the first that enabled third-party producers to create apps that consumers could download.

“We were so excited when the new Apple TV with an App Store first came out, but then we did a search for ‘LGBT’ and found nothing,” said Revry’s CEO Damian Pelliccione.

Starting From… Now’s writer/director/producer Julie Kalceff added: “It’s extremely important for us to continue to expand the show’s reach to new audiences, but also that queer stories are told and are readily available to the community. The Revry team’s passion both for digital media, queer content, and the LGBT community were clear from our first meeting.”

WHENTHEPARTYENDS

The Revry team are reportedly working on creating original content to compete with major competitors like Netflix and Hulu. Later this year, they’ll premiere H.O.T.: House of Trans, a docu-series following the lives of transgender performers in Los Angeles.

In the meantime, you can pick up a Revry subscription for $5 a month or $55 a year. In addition to being available on Apple TV and Chromecast, you can also download Revry, you can download it for iOS, Android, Roku, or view on the web.
