The Halloween costume company that took flack for rolling out an official Caitlyn Jenner costume this year says its quickly become their top seller.
TMZ reports that Spirit Halloween, as well as several other costume companies, claim the signature “Call Me Caitlyn” corset and sash (pictured below) are selling in record numbers that can only be matched by last year’s biggest-selling costume, Elsa from Disney’s Frozen.
A Spirit Halloween rep said 1,000 units quickly sold out in August when the costume was first announced.
At the time, activists called the costume insensitive but Jenner herself didn’t identify as part of that crowd.
“I’m in on the joke,” she told Matt Lauer in a September interview. “I don’t think it’s offensive at all. I know the community does and they’ve [Spirit Halloween] gotten a lot of criticism for doing it. I think it’s great.”
