Remember reading The Odyssey in your high school literature class, or at least reading the first 30 pages or so? What was the one thing that you always thought the monster-laden, sex-and-violence-fueled, magical adventure was missing?
If you said anything other than “outer space,” you are about to be disappointed, because Warner Bros is moving forward with a movie that sets The Odyssey in space – not to be confused with 2001: A Space Odyssey. That Man of Twists and Turns Brad Pitt was once attached, but has since dropped out. Despite the lack of a star, Warner Bros sees this as a potential franchise, just as Homer originally intended.
We’re hoping this project does not turn out to be a Greek tragedy. Of course, if it turns out to be terrible, we can always catch the Spark Notes.
