Sperry Top-Sider is the preeminent pusher of preppy footwear. So it’s no surprise that for their latest collection they went to preppy stronghold of New England. The Made in Maine collection is just that — a collection of new designs hand-stitched by Maine artisans.
In fact, Maine operations manager Cliff Whitney came out of retirement just to work on the project. “It was a good opportunity to work with a good group of people. We have skill levels here that are next to impossible to duplicate,” he explains in a short video about the collection.
Of course, hand-stitching doesn’t come cheap: A pair of these babies will run you around $300.
