London's Skyscraper, The Shard
The Shard is now the best place to get high London (and, well, Europe for that matter), with her record-breaking 82-story exterior now done and basking in the city’s skyline next to older institutions like London Bridge.
The Renzo Piano-designed building isn’t completely done, however. They’ve still got to fit the insides, which will include residences, Shangri-la hotel and spa (to be the highest too?), and retail shopping (Maybe the highest Harrod’s in the world?). The Shard also boasts the tallest viewing deck in the old world—to be a mere 30-second elevator ride up from the bottom and comprised of the 69th-72nd floors. It’ll open sometime in February 2013, but in the age of the internets and all, you can sign up for a news alert as to when exactly that will be. Go on, be one of the firsts!
