The Spice Girls May Be Looking For Two New Members

The foursome has become a threesome!

The rumored Spice Girls reunion tour that was supposed to kick off this year may be on the back burner for good, The Sun is reporting.

According to the paper, a source close to the girls said that “Mel C is out of the reunion for now,” bringing the group down to a trio after Victoria Beckham’s unceremonious refusal to join the tour earlier this year.

“She has essentially left the band to focus on a more serious music career,” the source reportedly said, adding that the girls accepted Victoria’s decision because they were once a foursome in 1998 after Geri left the group, but “losing Mel C might be a bridge too far.”

“She loves the girls but it just didn’t feel right for her to reunite with them at the moment. She has other priorities and obviously it was a bit of a problem that Victoria made it clear she wasn’t going to be part of the reunion.”

The source shared the details with entertainment reporter Dan Wootton, who was first to report on the girls’ plans to reunite for the 20th anniversary of “Wannabe.”

Wootton also reported that the three remaining members, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner (née Halliwell), are entertaining the possibility of recruiting two new members through a reality TV show.

Said the source:

“Mel B and Geri in particular are still determined to mark their anniversary in some way.

They are arranging a number of meetings which include the option for a tour, possibly with just the three of them or with other singers.

There have even been the suggestions of a Spice Girls talent show.

It would be an absolute TV sensation.

Could you imagine the opportunity for a member of the public to become a Spice Girl?”

Ladies — just tell me when and where and I’ll be first in line to audition!
