The Year In Adam Lambert

It's no secret we love Adam Lambert and the energy and joy he brings to the otherwise sterile, manufactured world of modern pop music. This year we started the weekly feature Hump Day With Adam Lambert, to keep up with his life and career, and the response from his fans has been overwhelming. We want to thank you taking this glitter rocket through the world of Adam with us!

Because the next two Wednesdays are Christmas Day and New Year's Day, this will be the final Hump Day of the year, but we'll see you in January as we journey with Adam through 2014. And we'll have new Hump Day features for you to enjoy.

Right now, let's take a chronological look back at some of the highlights of Adam's 2013. It was a year of surprises, upheaval, and new beginnings. And we're glad for every minute of it!

January

Adam got the new year off to a great start when he joined President Bill Clinton at the grand opening of STEP UP ON VINE on January 14.

Adam was the honoree musical artist at the 2013 We Are Family Foundation Gala at Hammerstein Ballroom on January 31.

February

Adam attends the pre-Grammy party on February 8th.

Adam performs before a packed crowd at Uniqlo-AX Hall n Seoul, South Korea on February 17th.

After wowing the fans, it's time for departure at Incheon International Airport, South Korea on February 18th.

Now it's on to the Land Of The Rising Sun, as he arrives at Narita International Airport on February 18th in Narita, Japan.

March

This is from the March 3rd concert in Shanghai, and I chose these pics specifically because they represent what makes Adam so special. He puts his entire being into each and every performance, and his body language, facial expressions, and Aura Of Attitude all work together to deliver each song. In all of these pics, I keep hearing, "No Trespassers? Yeah, my ass! Wait till ya get a load of me!"

Moving to Singapore, let's start with a lengthy and fun interview with HOT FM's "Hot Breakfast," in which Adam discusses his career ambitions, the current American Idol, backstage rituals, the Les Miz controversy, fashion, and wanting to be on True Blood. Oh, and Adam mentions ... THE GLAM BULGE.

Below you can see a news report of Adam arriving in the Ukraine. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Glambert is the universal language.

Here he is performing the Donna Summer classic "Hot Stuff."

April

April was a transitional time, as Adam and long-time boyfriend Sauli officially called it quits, but remain close friends.

Adam was the headliner at the Miami Gay Pride Festival in April. Here are pics from the Miami press conference.

And the show.

Adam received the Most Popular and Influential International Artist in China Award at the Chinese Music Awards, and below you can see him beating out Kedollarsignha, Taylor Swift and PSY. GLAMBERT STYLE!

Below is a gallery of Adam at the awards, followed by his appearance a couple of days later on Chinese Idol.

May

May 15th marked the one year anniversary of the release of Trespassing, which made music and gay history when it debuted on the chart.

The big news in May was Adam being honored at the 24th GLAAD Media Awards with the Davidson/Valentini Award (which is presented to an out LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.)

You can see his acceptance speech below, and he's as confident. well-spoken, funny, and thoughtful as we'd expect.

Oh wait, there was another big event in May! Adam's journey back to where the world first witnessed the glitter explosion that created his star.

Adam performed on the Season Finale of American Idol with Angie Miller, and their duet of "Titanium" was the highlight of the night. And unlike other collaborations during the night, Adam didn't try to out-diva his partner, and his generosity made the performance all the more effective.

Adam capped off a fabulous May by jetting off to Vienna for the 2013 Life Ball, which is the biggest charity event in Europe supporting people with HIV or AIDS. While there, he performed the new song "Love Wins Over Glamour," which was written exclusively for Life Ball.

The theme of this year's Life Ball was Arabian Nights, and that's all Adam needed to hear, as he turned the introduction of "Love Wins Over Glamour" into a classic Adam glitter spectacle. And gotta love those backup dancers.

And here he is in the recording studio. The funny thing is ... I don't think a translation is really necessary. Once again, Glambert is the Universal Language.

Below you can see Adam arriving in Vienna, on the red carpet, and performing.

June

Adam was honored with the Hope of Los Angeles Award from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, as part of the City of Los Angeles 3rd Annual LGBT Heritage Month.

Adam is part of the Friend Movement, which "was created to help show positive anti-bully images through art and media. Images of people of all ages, race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality that invoke inspiration & conversation. Friend movement inspires people to prevent bullying by enabling them to be a better friend."

We announced the winner of THE ULTIMATE ADAM TOURNAMENT in June, and your choice for the greatest Adam song (so far) is ...

Adam scored big on The Backlot.com 2013 Hot 100. He's been in the top ten the last four years, and this year he moved from #10 all the way up to #4. Only Chris Colfer, Darren Criss and Matt Bomer scored higher.

Adam performed at Pittsburgh Pride, and by all accounts it was a rockin' good time. Below you can see him perform the Queen song "Dragon Attack," and the champion of the Ultimate Adam Tournament, "Shady."

Adam attended the NYC premiere of World War Z, and looked as hot as expected.

Adam was one of many celebrities who designed a T-shirt for the Shred Of Hope charity (which benefits the LGBT youth services of the Ali Forney Center), and his shirt had the highest bid at the fundraising auction.

Adam appeared at Broadway Bares, (sadly, he didn't strip), and he brought the house down with "The Star Spangled Banner."

July

In case you missed it, here's Adam (and many others) helping out singer/songwriter Bonnie McKee with her music video for "American Girl." Bonnie co-wrote "Chokehold" and "Cuckoo" with Adam.

Adam is an ambassador for The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for gay youth, and he promised to perform three songs when AT&T's Live Proud Campaign presented a check for $50,000 to the organization.

He ended up performing ten songs. Below you can see him belt out "Outlaws of Love" and Bob Marley's "Is This Love," and pics from the event.

July had two huge career decisions by Adam. First up ... Adam Lambert Dumps RCA, Prepares Glitter Rocket For Relaunch. Let's face it, RCA handled the promotion of Trespassing just terribly, so hopefully Adam can hook up with a label that can do him justice.

Up next ... Adam Lambert Joining Season Five of Glee. This was a shocker, but many of us were saying for years that Adam needed to at least make an appearance on Glee. I did have five suggestions as to the character Adam should play, but they decided to go in a different direction.

Adam performed at the California Mid-State Fair at Paso Robles, which is where this performance comes from.

August

Adam attended the premiere of Lovelace in Hollywood, and as always, showed them what star power is all about.

Here's Adam and friends leaving Chateau Marmont, accompanied by the sound of ... someone puking?

Here he is at the opening of Hooray Henry's

And here he is interviewed at the Lovelace premiere.

In this video from an AFTEE benefit concert in Long Island, Adam explains how he came to collaborate with Nile Rodgers and then the pair launch into a righteous performance.

Here's one more performance from that night - "Let's Dance."

Adam presented "Artist To Watch" at the VMA's. Some twink won. But here's Adam sparkling on the red carpet and on the show.

September

"Lay me down in darkness. Tell me what you see. Love is where the heart is. Show me I'm the one, tell me I'm the one that you need."

Avicii album True was released this month, which features his collaboration with Nile Rodgers and Adam, "Lay Me Down."

You can listen to it here (and I still get chills down my spine when it reaches 1:16), and then head over to itunes and drop $1.29 to buy the song

Here's Nile talking about the delicate condition Adam was in when he recorded the song.

Here's a gallery of pics of Adam and Queen at the iHeartRadio Festival.

And here are some extra goodies. First up, Adam holds a pre-concert press conference.

Here's Adam enjoying the festivities from backstage on Day Two, both solo, and in this first pic, with Rebel Wilson and Slack-Jawed Jesus Jared Leto.

October

Adam attended the world premiere of the devastating documentary Bridegroom, and tweeted his appreciation.

November

Adam has always had a huge heart, and he showed it again by performing at the 19th Annual Miami Make-A-Wish Ball.

And here we go.

Adam made another appearance on Glee, and it was ... unfeltgettable. This behind-the-scenes look at Starchild and his puppet doppelganger shows Adam's sense of humor in peak form.

Adam performed at Trevor Live . Here he is backstage, talking about what 2014 has in store, his "Ray Of Light" performance at Divas Live, and joining Glee just as Cory passed away. So he'll have an album in 2014 ... "In Theory." GRR ... that better be the name of the album, Adam.

Here he is on the Red Carpet, talking about the importance of The Trevor Project. And then he passes the mic to a hot mess. What the hell is she wearing?

Speaking of, here's Paula introducing Adam, and his performance of "Whataya Want From Me," accompanied by Michael Orland.
