Third Wave Fund: Help Fight For Gender Justice

“We ensure young women and queer and trans youth of color have the tools they need to lead powerful movements"

Created by and for women, Third Wave is an activist fund that focuses on building gender-justice groups from the ground up—helping women earn grants and obtain long-term funding.

“We ensure young women, queer, and trans youth of color, have the tools and resources they need to lead powerful movements," the Brooklyn-based group states on its website. "And that they have a seat at the table within philanthropy."

So, how can you help?

Got Five Minutes?

Familiarize yourself with what "gender justice" actually means—"a movement to end patriarchy, transphobia, and homophobia, and to create a world free from misogyny.”

On the Third Wave site you can also get educated about how gender justice intersects with other issues, including racial and economic justice, immigrant rights, and trans liberation.

Got $5?

Third Wave pools donations from individuals and directs them to communities that need them most. “Even $5 can make a big difference in the movement for gender justice,” Third Wave director Rye Young tells NewNowNext. “Our Flush Transphobia Fund allows everyday people to put their resources together and support initiatives in response to discriminatory ‘bathroom bills’ across the country. A small investment becomes a big step towards the change you want to see.”
