Miami Beach Goes Gay For Pride With Ross Mathews And Bebe Rexha

South Florida gets a bit more fabulous.

Miami is getting gay—well gayer—this week, just in time for Miami Beach Pride. City officials held a rainbow-flag raising ceremony at City Hall on Thursday, followed by a tribute to the victims and families of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

On Friday, April 7, Bebe Rexha, DJ Tracy Young and Elvis Duran appear the W South Beach for a VIP reception and performance, with an All-day Latin dance party on April 8 in Lummus Park.

The Miami Beach Pride Parade with celebrity grand marshal Ross Mathews kicks off Sunday, April 9, at noon, when Ocean Drive will be closed to traffic along the Art Deco district. (Expect some crowds: Last year's Pride drew more than 130,000 people to Miami Beach.)

Like to have your fun in the dark? The MiFo LGBT Film Festival, one of South Florida’s largest cultural arts events, gets rolling April 21 to 30.

Still from the film, A Change of Heart

This year's films include Handsome Devil, The Pass, A Million Happy Nows, the documentary Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America; and A Change of Heart, starring Jim Belushi as a man who has to confront his prejudices after a heart attack leaves him with a new heart from a drag-queen donor.
