This Gay Summer Camp Is Everything We Wanted as a Kid
This Columbus Day weekend, Camp No Counselors will kick off the sophomore run of its "LGBTQ & Friends" adult sleep away camp in Los Angeles.
For adults of legal drinking age and up, the weekend-long experience offers up all the activities one might expect to find at any summer camp, including: kickball, dodgeball, archery, arts and crafts, a ropes course, a zip line, swimming pool, a talent show, a lip sync competition, and something called the "Color Wars." For its LGBTQ crowd, the Camp No Counselors crew have added in some bonus activities such as DJs, LGBTQ performers, theme parties, a fashion runway challenge, and a drag event.
“Some of our LGBTQ campers have shared with us that camp wasn’t always a positive experience growing up," said Adam Tichauer, Founder of Camp No Counselors. "So it’s our priority to create an open-minded and fun-loving environment for campers to redefine their camp experience as their true selves.”
The all-inclusive, weekend-long experience starts at $475 per person for a two-night stay and $650 per person for the full three-night experience.
