This Week’s Infatuations: I Whip My Beard, Happy forth and More!

Whoa. What a week! This past weekend was hella awesome because of that whole NY GETTING MARRIAGE THING. We also had pride, lots of glitter and a bit of nudity. Aside from all THAT, here's the stuff I obsessed over these past seven days:

I whip my beard back and forth

Dudes competing in facial hair competition. This is both exciting and horribly, horribly frightening at the same time. I just…wow. Don’t get me wrong, guys with scruffy action can be really hot. Beards can also be helpful to determine the trustworthiness of a subject and have a history. But, when you can whip your beard back and forth… you’ve gone too far.

Museum of ME!!!

For the vain people out there (me), the Museum of Me is a dream come true. Loads of (imaginary) people looking at fascinating (blurry) photos chronicling your (Facebook) life. It's really cool. Intel connects to your Facebook account and creates a cyber gallery of your life, highlighting photos, friends, videos and your location. It's definitely worth trying out, but it might make you a little misty-eyed, reminiscing about the olden days (2006) when your first Facebook photos went up.

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

I'm a sucker for anything with stop-motion animation (psst, future boyfriend, are you listening?). Mix that with a catchy song that sounds empowering and makes me want to do something/sit here and you have a winner. Coldplay's newest music video is gorgeous. Especially when you remember that the bulk of it was shot one frame at a time to get the painting effect.

Biblical Bachmann hatin' on the homos

According to this interview with Dr. Marcus Bachmann, gays are "barbarians" that need to be "disciplined." That's kinda hot... but not in the context of Dr. Bach's speech. The husband of presidential hopeful Michelle Bachmann pretty much thinks we're the devil and that "encouraging" homos to live happy and productive lives is going to ruin the U.S. of A. As horrible as it is, I can't stop listening to hate speech. He sounds so sassy! It almost sounds like a how-to discipline your teenage child. Sigh.

'Cause baby, you're a firework!

As the Katy Perry tune reminds us (over and over), we are fireworks! Whatever that means. Anywho, it's the 4th of July weekend and it's one heckuva time to be a proud gay American. We just had pride, we got marriage in New York, civil unions in Rhode Island and we're adopting babies like crazy.

So, get out there and celebrate! Let's just hope that fireworks don't awkwardly erupt from your chest.
