Naples: Must-Sees and See-What-Happens: Seth Kugel takes the scariness out of Naples, makes us hungry, and tells us about a museum we've never heard of in one fell swoop. [NYT]
The South's Top 5 Hippie Beaches: Who knew "drum circles" and "North Carolina" could go together? Hadley Meares did, and her tour of the laid-back oceanfront South must've inspired many a summer RV trip. [ToT]
Where Prisoners Can Do Anything, Except Leave: A fascinating story that becomes travel writing through sentences like "Bikini-clad female visitors frolic under the Caribbean sun in an outdoor pool. Marijuana smoke flavors the air. Reggaetón booms from a club filled with grinding couples" and "the ambience inside, bursting with spouses, romantic partners and some who simply show up looking for diversion, almost resembles the island’s beach resorts." I looked into it, and yeah, the prison on Venezuela's Margarita Island does look a lot like the many resorts there. Probably not going to be a ToT recommendation any time soon. [NYT]
'Tales of the City' in San Francisco: This musical is obviously a summer must-do. And get some ice cream while you're there. [ToT]
Clifton's Cafeteria Gets the Mother of all Updates: Downtown Los Angeles becomes ever more a standalone destination, and this collection of bars and restaurants in one historic building will bring nightlife back to Broadway. [ToT]
