Thomas Roberts Quits Miss USA After Trump's Racist Rant, Pageant Sinking Fast

Out newsman Thomas Roberts has pulled out of hosting this year's Miss USA on July 12, following an anti-Mexican rant from presidential hopeful Donald Trump, who owns the pageant.

Roberts joins co-host Cheryl Burke, who announced earlier on Facebook that she could "not in good conscience move forward with participating" after the Donald's hate-filled diatribe.

"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best," Trump declared in June. "They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists."

Trump conceded, "some, I assume, are good people."

But he vowed that, if elected, he would build a wall dividing our two countries, "and I will have Mexico pay for that wall."

As a result, NBC announced it would not air the Miss USA competition, which is now moving to REELZ, or the Miss Universe pageant.

REELZ CEO Stan E. Hubbard said the decision to air the show "was based on our belief that this special event, and the women who compete in it, are an integral part of American tradition."

But Trump's crass comments are still costing him plenty: Univision backed out of broadcasting the pageant's first Spanish-language simulcast and NBC has axed him from Celebrity Apprentice.

Yesterday, Macy's announced it was pulling Donald Trump ties, dress shirts and other merchandise from its stores, after carrying the brand since 2004.

And the Ricky Martin Foundation, created by the out pop singer, canceled its annual charitable golf tournament which was going to be held at a Trump-owned golf course.

In a Tweet in Spanish, Martin said Trump's heart is filled with "hate and ignorance."

What heart?
