3 Skinny-But-Refreshing Summer Cocktails

In the very near future, you may not be able to order a 36 oz icy Coca Cola to pair with your jumbo oil slick popcorn at the cinema. As much as this news may crush your palate, we've got a silver lining on all this Bloomberg brouhaha for you. Mayor Mike has not placed a ban on cocktails of any stripe or size!

It is our humble opinion that there are way too many sugar bomb liquor-based drinks out there as well. So here are three lightened-up cocktails to drink from NYC to Oregon (where you can add a 24 ounce mixer of Mountain Dew if you feel so inclined). Cheers.

The Dr. Oz - One recipe Dr. Oz's Green Drink (3-4 servings) + 6 ounces  potato vodka of your choice. Combine in blender. Feel healthy and high and mighty.

Minty Manchild -  Put that SodaStream to work! One recipe Cucumber, Mint and Basil Soda (12 servings), omit the simple syrup. Add 1.5 ounces bourbon per serving of soda. Talk about how much better this tastes than a Mint Julep.

A Spritz and a Screw - Ick, you're STILL drinking boxed orange juice? There are 62 calories in a medium orange. There are 110 calories and a bunch of other processed ingredients in 8 ounces of OJ. Lighten up the classic screwdriver by combining 1.5 ounces vodka with the juice from one fresh orange and a splash of seltzer. Save the calories for round 2.
