While it was hardly a state secret, Apple CEO Tim Cook discussed being gay publicly for the first time in a new personal essay in Businessweek magazine—making him the only openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

"While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now," Cook wrote. "So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me."

Many of you are probably Apple devotees already—heck, we're writing this on a MacPro—and the company has been a staunch ally to the LGBT community for years. But does Cook's news make you want run out and get (another) iPad?
