Tituss Burgess Had To Audition For The Part That Was Written For Him On "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"

We can't get enough of Titus Burgess, the Broadway talent and breakout star of Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. But as we learned last night on The Late Late Show, Burgess had to audition for his Schmidt role—even though it was written with him in mind. And, as Burgess tells James Corden and Anna Ferris, he didn't even think his audition was very good. After two weeks of hearing nothing back, he decided to make himself feel better with nature's greatest remedy—pizza!

Sitting in his dingy basement apartment, about to wolf down some slices, he finally got the call. "I was so excited I threw the pizza," he recalls. “My dismay for having tossed a perfectly good pizza trumped my being excited that I got the role.”

We can totally relate.
