Miss Spain Comes Out, Doctor Who's Gay Kiss, Michael Sam Sacks Johnny Manziel: Today In Gay

Patrician Yurenawho represented Spain at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, has come out as a lesbian, posting a photo on Instagram  with her musician girlfriend, Vanesa.

Yurena posted a second photo on Friday, with a caption thanking fans for their support. She tweeted, "I published the picture completely spontaneously and in an impulsive manner. Thank you for all your support."

Last night in a pre-season matchup against the Cleveland Browns, the St. Louis Rams' defensive end Michael Sam tackled Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel twice.

“He’s a talented kid—he isn’t called ‘Johnny Football’ for nothing," Sam said of Manziel. “It was fun getting to play against Manziel in an NFL game.”

Said Manziel of Sam, “He had an incredible year when we played them at Missouri this past year. The guy goes through a lot of stuff. He gets heckled by everybody, I’m sure... He played pretty well."

This is the third sack for Sam, who became the first openly gay player in the NFL when he signed with the Rams earlier this year. But his place on the roster is still not guaranteed, as final cuts will be announced August 30.

A Seattle man who confessed to killing two gay men in Seattle earlier this year said the murders were part of a mission of vengeance against the U.S. government for its actions in the Middle East.

Ali Muhammad Brown—who was also charged with the point-blank shooting of a New Jersey college student and a 30-year-old man in Skyway, Washington—told investigators he carried out the killings as retribution for lives lost during U.S. military action in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

"My mission is vengeance, for the lives, millions of lives are lost every day," Brown said. "All these lives are taken every single day by America, by this government. So a life for a life."

In June, Brown used a gay-dating app to lure Ahmed Said and Dwone Anderson-Young to a nightclub, where she shot them both dead.

And though he gunned down 19-year-old Brendan Tevlin in a robbery attempt, he insisted it was a "just kill," telling police he only targeted adult men and tried not to attack anyone in the presence of women, children or the elderly.

Doctor Who returned last night with an all-new Doctor and the series' first lesbian kiss.

The episode, "Deep Breath," was watched by more than seven million people in the UK alone—and most had no problem with Silurian lizard-woman Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) locking lips with her human wife, Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart). After all, the two have been depicted as lovers for years.

But a few disgruntled viewers bemoaned the BBC for "slowly edging...into a porn channel."

“I think they wish to come out of the closet, well I have no objection to that if they become a private adult channel, but not on our license fee,” said one commenter.

Another wrote: “I thought it was gratuitous and not particularly welcome in a family show aimed at kids. It just seems [executive producer Steven Moffat] is on some weird, lizard-lesbian perv trip.”

Since out producer Russell Davies resurrected Doctor Who in 2005, the series has spotlighted numerous queer characters, including John Barrowman's omnisexual Captain Jack Harkness, who went on to star in Torchwood.
