Protesters in Paris

  • Opponents of same-sex marriage staged four massive rallies in Paris on Sunday, drawing some 200,000 demonstrators, according to police—or more than one million, if you believe the nutjobs who organized the events. Several protestors were arrested Saturday evening after lobbing smoke bombs. (Something tells us these folks have bigger problems than homos getting married.)
  • Mark Ferrandino, Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, had a civil-union ceremony with partner Greg Wertsch this weekend at the Colorado State Capitol.
  • Minnesota Vikings running back and NFL MVP Adrian Peterson says he's got gay relatives but he's "not with" same-sex marriage. Well, that's one less invitation to send out.
  • Dozens of LGBT activists arrested after holding an unsanctioned gay pride rally in Moscow on Saturday were released today. According to the  interior department, "protocols for the breach of the established rules of holding gatherings and meetings were drawn up for 29 detainees and protocols for petty hooliganism were completed for the other 10."
  • Speaking of pride marches in the former Soviet Union, gays in Ukraine defied a government ban and held the first-ever Kiev Pride. The whole thing lasted 40 minutes and a little more than 200 yards, but sympathic police still had to arrest 13 Orthodox Christians trying to break it up.
  • Gay and trans teens in Thailand who being forced into the monkhood by their repressive parents are coming out as queer on Facebook.
  • Another hate crime in New York: Eugene Lovendusky, 28, was attacked in Hell's Kitchen by a man (or men)  shouting "faggot" as they punched him.
  • It's the second memorial day since the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.
