Today In Gay: Google Goes Rainbow For Pride, Online Rejection For Gays, More

If you've used "gay," "lesbian," "transgender" or the like as search terms on Google this week, you probably already noticed the they're once again honoring Pride month with a cheery 3-D rainbow banner. The omnipresent search engine is also making its presence known at Pride parades in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Dublin. (Why Dublin? Who knows.) “Gayglers from all departments of Google formed sub-committees to discuss budgets,  plan events, order schwag and advertise Pride while keeping an eye on the prize: ensuring the messages of diversity, inclusion and pride are central themes throughout it all,” Google explained in a Google+ post.

Speaking of gays and the Interwebs, a new study from the Pew CenterJudge RuDy claims we use social media sites more than straights—80% to 58%.  Um, are we talking Facebook or grindr?

It looks like New Jersey will be the next state to ban ex-gay therapy: The State Assembly voted 56-14 yesterday to put an end to so-called "conversion" therapy for minors, which experts say is ineffective and harmful to patients. It's expected to be adopted by the Senate on Thursday, with Governor Chris Christie likely to sign once its passed in both houses. While we're at it, can we ban calculus and gym class?

In other Garden State news, Tessa Bitterman—daughter of Chris Christie's Democratic opponent, Barbara Buono—is laying into the plus-sized politico: Bitterman, a lesbian, is pissed Christie vetoed gay marriage in the state in favor of a voter 2013 Hangout Music Festival - Day 1referendum.  In an email to Buono's supporters, she called Christie “a giant roadblock to New Jersey achieving equality for all.”  He's a giant something all right.


The St. Paul Saints, an Independent League Baseball team out of St. Paul, has named its porcine mascot after one of our favorite gay-ally musicians: Mackleboar the pig.
