Shocktoberfest in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, is mostly like other haunted houses: creepy noises, dark passageways, folks jumping out of corners. But after hours it offers something called The Naked and Scared Challenge, where visitors strip naked and run through the house after midnight during a special nude tour. (If you're a pussy, you can keep your underwear on.)

But this won't be a Halloween bathhouse: A disclaimer on the Shocktoberfest site explains "this is about fear and pushing oneself out of their comfort zone. This is not about sex. No sexual misconduct, inappropriate or disrespectful behavior will be tolerated."

The only thing that could make this haunted house scarier is if they forced you to upload snaps from your visit onto your Grindr profile. (Shudder!)

Maggie_gallagherMaggie Gallagher, former head wildebeest for the National Organization for Marriage spoke with Huffinton Post about Pope Francis' recent conciliatory statements about gays:

Earlier this week, the Pope criticized the Church for being obsessed with abortion and gay rights, and insisted it could not "interfere spiritually in the life of a person."

Gallagher gave Francis a backhanded compliment, of sorts:

What I find most exhilarating about Pope Francis, is the possibility that we can reach out to those with whom we disagree without surrendering principle. I will say I have not found that true generally.

I have found the gay rights community—the activists anyway, not the ordinary folk— is mostly asking for one thing: Agree, or be judged a hateful bigot.

But when you are in the fray of battle, it is easy to become fragile and to lose sight of possibilities. Maybe the pope can do things I cannot imagine. Imagine that!

But Gallagher also made it clear her attacks on marriage equality won't stop even if the Roman Catholic Church's do:

My case against same-sex marriage was always entirely secular. I believe we need a social institution that is about directing the passions of men and women attracted to the opposite sex -- 98% of people -- so that our sexual acts do not hurt the children our bodies create in passion. To me, that's the heart of "civil marriage" and the explanation for why the government is involved.

I don't see that changing. I hope I am wrong that gay marriage will change that... but the evidence is pretty strong that I am right: It is very hard to see two men as a marriage, and still see marriage as integrally involved in procreation and family structure.

I would love for you to prove me wrong. I would love nothing more than to be wrong about this.

Guess what, Maggs—it's your lucky day!

chozen

FXX has been snapping up It's Always Sunny and some of FX's other topnotch programming for its launch this month. But the spinoff network is also lining up some of its own original programming, including Chozen, an animated series about a gay rapper.

From the folks that brought us Eastbound & Down and Archer, Chozen follows "a gay white rapper fresh out of prison with a new message and new skills, which he will use in his quest for redemption and domination," according to series press notes. Voicework comes courtesy of writer-creator Grant Dekernion, SNL's Bobby Moynihan, Totally Biased's Hannibal Buress, Nick SwardsonEastbound & Down's Danny McBride and, for some hip-hop cred,  Method Man.

Screen Shot 2013-09-22 at 5.20.22 PMMembers of ACT UP and Queer Nation interrupted the Most Original Stoli Guy competition in New York on Thursday night.

Shouting "Russia Kills Gays" and "Boycott Sochi." five men interrupted the show, held at Marquee and co-sponsored by Stoli and GayCities.com. While there were calls for a boycott of the vodka company earlier this summer, many advocates have since decided such a campaign was both futile and wrongheaded.
