Tom Ford Got Married, Says We Should Suffer For Fashion
Designer and film director Tom Ford isn't A Single Man any more: The Telegraph reports that the style icon told an audience at an Apple store in London last night that he and Richard Buckley, his partner of 27 years, recently got married.
He didn't up many details on their nuptials, but did flash some serious wedding bling. "I know that was just made legal in the UK which is great," he told the crowd, "but we were married in the States."
Ford and Buckley met at a fashion show and were living together within two months. The two share a home in London, where Ford's label is based and where they're raising their son, Jack, who arrived in 2012. "I used to spend most of my time at home naked," Ford reveals. "But now we have a child it means we have a nanny and so I can't come downstairs naked and have a bowl of cereal in the morning. Before I had a child I literally took off all my clothes the minute I walked in the door."
Revealing a love-hate relationship with the Jay-Z track that bears his name, Ford admitted "if you're in the business of a brand it's one of the best things that could happen to you," but confesses that hearing 60,000 people at a Jay-Z concert scream his name "freaks me out... I want to crawl under a rock because I'm actually very, very, very shy."
Not surprisingly, his final words of advice were of a sartorial nature: "Never ever wear anything you are remotely uncomfortable in. Because that is what you'll project: 'I look like a fool,'" he advised. "I don't mean physical comfort, I don't mind suffering a little bit," he clarified, before adding that his own pants were feeling a little too snug.
