In a new interview, Nocturnal Animals director Tom Ford spoke candidly about his belief that all straight men should experience being penetrated at least once in their lives.

The provocative remark appears in GQ's recent profile of the designer, which veered back to a 2004 conversation he had with the men's fashion magazine about the very same topic.

“Oh God, what was I thinking," he responds when asked about the interview, which saw a drunk Ford tell his straight male interviewer that "every man should be fucked at some point in his life."

While he maintains that he stands by what he said, he also admits that he probably shouldn't have said it out loud. However, when given the chance to remain quiet on the matter now, the infamously outspoken filmmaker just can't resist the subject.

“I think it would help them understand women,” he argued. “It’s such a vulnerable position to be in, and it’s such a passive position to be in."

"There’s such an invasion, in a way, that even if it’s consensual, it’s just very personal," he continued. "I think there’s a psyche that happens because of it that makes you understand and appreciate what women go through their whole life, because it’s not just sexual, it’s a complete setup of the way the world works."

He concluded: "I think that that’s something most men do not understand at all."
