It's New York Fashion Week, but Tom Ford is probably glad he's not racing to get a collection together.

The designer-turned-director just gave an interview to Mr. Porter where he revealed his life now is anything but the frenetic combination of work and partying we associate with the fashion world.

Ford, 54, gets up insanely early—4:30—and then has a giant iced coffee before answering emails for a few hours.

Wow, iced coffee—take it easy there.

“Then I will head upstairs and have a second giant iced coffee and lay in the bathtub,” he continues. “I lay in my bathtub with a bendable straw in my coffee and no lights and only one candle lit. I love that time in the morning when no one else is awake, and I’m alone, and then I can slowly come to life.”

Is this Tom Ford or Gwyneth Paltrow?

The former creative director for Gucci says life has really changed since he and husband Richard Buckley had their son Jack, 3.

“I feel less sexy now that I’m a father,” he says.

Ford says that, up until a decade ago, he was a “highly functioning alcoholic.”

“I think that being drunk all the time used to fuel, and I don’t mean my sex drive, but my… you know. I did a lot of things with Terry Richardson that I wouldn’t have otherwise done.”

These days he's usually in bed watching television by 10pm.

“Talk about unsexy,” he muses.
