Tom Hardy REALLY Wanted To Go Naked In His New Miniseries
Tom Hardy’s never been shy about nudity, so it's not too surprising the hunky British actor was keen on going starkers for his new FX miniseries, Taboo.
A dark period drama first airing on the BBC this weekend, Taboo follows James Delaney (Hardy), who returns to London in 1814 to reclaim his father’s shipping empire after a decade in untamed Africa.
Paparazzi shots taken during shooting showed Hardy in the altogether, but it sounds like what viewers will see is a little more modest.
“You’re lucky there was a loin cloth because I didn’t want one,” he told the BBC. “It’s not a period drama until someone gets naked and covers themselves in blood. At least you’re showing willing."
Hardy recalled shooting in Essex, slogging naked through the mud, though, he confesses "none of that makes the cut.”
He says the eight-part series "opens like a jewelery box... it’s got that Gothic horror feel to it.”
If you simply must see Tom Hardy full-frontal, you can always rent Bronson, Sargeant Slaughter, Colditz or Stuart: A Life Backwards. In fact, this may be the first time he hasn't bared his bits.
