After his first solo exhibition in L.A. in 1978, Tom of Finland fell in love with the city and began splitting his time between Finland and this two-story home in Echo Park. In 1984, Laaksonen and homeowner Durk Dehner created the Tom of Finland Foundation in the house, and it was approved by the L.A. City Council in 2016 to become a historic-cultural monument.
