Tomorrow Is World Naked Gardening Day

In case you didn't know, tomorrow is World Naked Gardening Day, when we're encouraged to prune our bushes, pull out weeds and plant flowers wearing only what the good Lord gave us.

The event's website (NSFW-ish) explains why we should ditch our clothes and dig in the soil.

First of all, it's fun! Second only to swimming, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude.

Moreover, our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relation to the natural environment.

Gardening naked is not only a simple joy, it reminds us--even if only for those few sunkissed minutes--that we can be honest with who we are as humans and as part of this planet.

Sounds good.

These gorgeous nymphs come courtesy of photographer Kris Micallef, but you have to figure most people participating in WNGD are the kind you wouldn't want to see naked.

Ahem.

We're kidding, of course—World Naked Gardening Day isn't about lust. In fact its founders want it be considered a family friendly event. Because who didn't garden naked with their parents when they were kids?

Need more of an incentive? Here are some notable nude gardeners from history.

1. Walt Whitman

2. Edna St. Murray

3. Alicia Silverstone

4. Adam & Eve

So drop your pants and pick up those shears (carefully)!
