Tony Perkins Says The Fight Against Marriage Equality Isn't Over

Tony Perkins of The Family Research Council was on CBSN and FOX News over the weekend, saying that despite The Supreme Court's ruling that same-sex marriage is now legal in all 50 states, the fight against gay marriage isn't over.

Perkins cited the Roe V. Wade abortion case, saying that despite the case's outcome, Americans are still divided on the issue of abortion. He feels the Obergefell V. Hodges case will be just as contentious as the Wade decision for many years.

"The Court can make it right, but it can't make it moral," said Perkins. "And you have a large segment of the population, about half, that's just not going to accept this."

He goes on to say he doesn't feel the Court has the "moral authority to redefine something that's been in existence since almost the beginning of time."

The CBS anchor replied, saying, "Mr. Perkins, moral authority is one thing. Legal authority is another. And the decision has been made."
