Typically I think of surf shorts as garments specifically designed for getting sandy and salty. But the fine folks at high-end menwear store Couverture and the Garbstore seem to disagree. They’re shilling a pair of surf shorts by Scout Original that are for anything but lazing about. Or we assume, anyway, because they cost a mindblowing $750. Yes, that’s right. Surf shorts. That is, shorts, for the beach, will set you back nearly a thousand clams. Why? Well, aside from their supposed hand-painted detailing and faux-worn in stitching, these chinos feature brass hardware and “authentic” Hawaiian scenes.
But, you ask, what do I wear them with?
Couverture and The Garbstore has that covered. They’ve helpfully teamed up these $750 surf shorts with a pair of artfully “hand-painted” vintage wingtip shoes, also from Scout Original. For the low, low, low price of $500, you can get a pair of these one-of-a-kind paint-splattered shoes. They are very special, promise.
