Trans Teen Ambushed At Pool Party, Beaten By 20 Attackers

The assailants took a video of the attack and proudly shared it on social media.

A transgender teenager was assaulted by a group of up to 20 people at an apartment complex swimming pool in Arizona over the weekend, according to azfamily.com.

Dakota Kern told police that she was attending a pool party at an apartment building when she heard strangers shouting gay slurs.

The 18-year-old told CBS 5 that as she and two friends decided to leave the pool area, she overheard a man yelling "get it, get it," before she was suddenly attacked by the giant group.

“One of the guys, he ends up grabbing me by my head, grabbing me by my hair and then he hit me a few times,” Kern told a reporter.

A member of the violent mob captured video footage of the attack and posted it on social media, showcasing the teen on the ground being kicked repeatedly.

Kern said she eventually passed out after hitting her head on the concrete, and woke up to her friend slapping her face to revive her and get her out of the situation.

She was treated for cuts and bruises at a nearby hospital and said she's urging police to treat this as a hate crime, adding that she feels she was actually lured to the pool for a planned attack.

Despite the violent abuse, Kern told reporters she will not back down from being who she truly is.

"This is always gonna be me," she said. "If you like it, stay. If you don't, there's the door."
