"Transparent," Tatiana Maslany, Lily Tomlin Score Emmy Award Nominations

The nominees for the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, with Transparent, Amazon's acclaimed series about a trans woman navigating her transition and family, receiving a nod for Best Comedy.

Star Jeffrey Tambor also received a nomination for Lead Actor in the streaming series.

Queen Latifah received a Best Actress nomination for the lead role in Bessie, HBO's biopic about bi music legend Bessie Smith. Out actor Mark Rylance also scored a nod for his performance in Wolf Hall, and lesbian icon Lily Tomlin got one for Netflix's Grace and Frankie.

Among gay-fave shows Modern Family, Orange is the New Black and American Horror Story: Freak Show all got nominations. But perhaps the sweetest announcement was that Tatiana Maslany—long overlooked for the amazing and diverse performances she gives on Orphan Black—received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama.
