Trevor Noah, That Cute South African Dude, To Replace Jon Stewart As "Daily Show" Host

A world without The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is no world we'd want to live in but nonetheless Jon's stepping down later this year and he's tapped South African comedian/TDS correspondent/dapper dimpled dude Trevor Noah to be his replacement.

“You don’t believe it for the first few hours,” Noah told The New York Times from Dubai, where he is currently on a comedy tour. “You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you’re in a place where you can’t really get alcohol.”

The 31-year-old's promotion may come as a surprise to fans who had hoped Samantha Bee or Jessica Williams might slip into the anchor chair, but Comedy Central higher-ups found Noah to be the best man, or woman, for the job.

After all, he speaks six languages and has, according to Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless, "a unique worldview and a deep understanding of human nature." And also, Jon just likes him. A lot.

“I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Stewart said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with," adding that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”
