Thelma & Louise, Connie & Carla, Barb & Star… these are just a few examples of dynamic duos who have hit the road together. Now, get ready to add two more names to that list: Trixie Mattel and Katya.
Trixie and Katya co-host UNHhhh, co-wrote a New York Times bestselling book, and co-hosted the 2020 Streamys, but they have never headlined a tour together — that is, until now. The drag superstars are hitting the road next year for Trixie and Katya Live, their first joint tour across the United States. The 22-city nationwide journey will kick off on March 15 in San Francisco and conclude a month later in San Diego.
“After over a year of living on your small screens, we are pulling out all of the stops on this live show,” Trixie said in the tour announcement. “You can expect spectacular musical numbers, a dazzling set, and impeccable timing from two of the most talented women in the world. Do I smell a Tony?”
That’s right. This won’t be some low-budget dog and pony show full of stale lip-syncs; this drag live spectacular is an “all-new scripted show that pays comic homage to the classic female road trip comedies from the ’90s to today,” from To Wong Foo… to Crossroads.
“Trixie and Katya Live will redefine drag, theatre, and art,” added Katya. “You may leave with more questions than answers, but one thing’s for sure: The world will never be the same.
The Trixie and Katya Live tour also marks the launch of Obsessed, a new brand from drag promoters Five Senses Reeling. In addition to a sickening live experience, there will be exclusive merchandise at the shows and special upgrade packages, including a meet-and-greet with the two skinny legends. Just remember not to hug Trixie.
