Troye Sivan Thinks It’s “Really Hot” When Boys Smell Like This

"I’ve got a super-sensitive nose."

Ever wonder what scent makes Troye Sivan bloom?

The 23-year-old Australian singer-songwriter breaks down 10 things he can't live without in a new video for GQ. Think Ray-Bans, lip balm, dog treats, his own merch, and his mom.

Among his daily essentials is also Aesop's Marrakech Intense eau de toilette.

"I just love fragrances, I love candles, I love colognes, I love a good perfume," says the “1999” singer. "I’m just a big smell guy. I’ve got a super-sensitive nose I think."

"Like, if I imagine a boy wearing this, I’m like, ‘That’s really hot,’" adds Sivan, who's currently dating model Jacob Bixenman. "If I imagine a girl wearing this, I’m like, ‘That’s really hot, too.’"

"It’s just like a kind of musky, woody—kind of like fire almost," he continues. "I don’t know. I’m really into it."

Sivan recently used his platform to empower young LGBTQ fans by partnering with the Ally Coalition and the Trevor Project on the North American leg of his Bloom tour. He also appears in Boy Erased, the new film adaptation of Garrard Conley’s memoir about his time in a gay conversion camp.

At last year’s GLAAD Media Awards, Sivan, who came out publicly on YouTube at the age of 14, became the youngest recipient of the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, presented to LGBTQ media professionals who promote equality and acceptance.

"It’s almost become cool to be queer," Sivan told NewNowNext in August.
