TV Land Orders Pilot For "The First Wives Club" Series

"Who's supposed to wear that? Some anorexic teenager—some fetus? It's a conspiracy, I know it is!"

We'll never get that First Wives Club sequel, but fans of the 1996 camp classic can rejoice: TV Land has ordered a pilot for a television series based on the film, which starred Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton.

The reboot will be written by New Girl’s Rebecca Addelman, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with Sex and The City’s Jenny Bicks executive producing.

Sadly, it doesn't look like Bette, Goldie or Diane are involved—the show will be set in San Francisco, where three women who went to college together in the 1990s reunite after the death of a close friend."

Casting suggestion: How about Kimmy Schmidt's Ellie Kemper as Keaton, Mayim Bialik as Midler and Kate Hudson as Hawn? (With Maggie Smith returning as Gunila Garson Goldberg, of course.)

In other TV Land news, the network signed Darren Star to an overall deal and is prepping a comedy based on the life of Real Housewives star Kyle Richards.
