TV on Tap: History Channel Draws an Audience with… Historical Programming, Anthony Bourdain Moves to CNN and Is Someone Coming Out on “True Blood?”

Funny, cute and good with dogs,
Dogs in the City’s Justin Silver be as good on TV as he sounds on paper?

TV Guide says that the season premiere of True Blood will feature “dying, becoming a vampire (and) declaring your true sexuality.” Does that mean we’ll have a new gay in Bon Temps?

Former Secret Circle hot dad (and Queer as Folk alum) Adam Harrington will appear in the upcoming season of Drop Dead Diva. Secret Cricle wasted Harrington’s talents. Let’s hope Diva makes better use of him.

A pair of Ohio comedians are angry with NBC after their viral video supporting a local mayoral candidate was featured on The Tonight Show. In addition to failing to ask for permission before airing the video, NBC claimed the original video was infringing on The Tonight Show’s copyright and got it taken off of YouTube.

Chef Anthony Bourdain is ending his Travel Channel show, No Reservations for a weekend show on CNN that will see Bourdain examining “cultures from around the world through their food and dining and travel rituals.” I have to admit, to me that makes Bourdain’s CNN show sound a lot like No Reservations.

Comedy Central’s Workaholics was almost a show about rapping wizards (which became a part of Workaholics eventually) but the trio were convinced that pitch would not go well at the channel.

Ad Age looks at the casts of the new fall shows and analyzes their Twitter activity. Dane Cook and Mindy Kaling are the most-followed stars, which will help their shows break out. Last year, Zooey Deschanel and Kat Dennings were able to use their internet presence to get fans to check out New Girl, and 2 Broke Girls. Can Kaling or Cook duplicate that success?

Here’s more art from the upcoming Community art show, “Six Seasons and a Movie”. I can’t decide if the audience at opening night will be awesome or unbearable.

After his Celebrity Apprentice win (which gave him plenty of chances to discuss his interest in hosting another talk show) Arsenio Hall is negotiating a potential syndicated talk show. Interestingly, he’s not negotiating with an NBC company. Whatever happened to the Kabletown synergy?

Grimm has found a brother for Captain Renard. He’ll be played by True Bood alum James Frain, whose character will recur in the second season.

The premiere of the History Channel’s Hatfields & McCoys mini-series was watched by 13.9 million viewers, which History claims sets a record for cable TV ratings.

And congratulations to Greg McE who correctly identified Martin Freeman as the common thread on yesterday’s challenge! The three TV characters — Arthur Dent (Simon Jones) from The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) from The Office and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) from Elementary — were all played by Freeman in different forms.

CBS is trying to launch a new summer reality hit with comedian and dog guru Justin Silver as he helps urban dwellers work out their issues with their pets… but how will these dogs feel when their cuteness is upstaged by Silver?

Melissa & Joey (ABC Family) 8:00 PM ET
Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence’s ABC Family comedy returns tonight with two new episodes that sees Mel and Joe deal with a major construction project. At least Mel gets rewarded with a cute cabinet guy for dealing with that chaos.

The auditions continue in Los Angeles where I’m hoping we’ll see more hunky dancers…. maybe a few with interesting internet histories.

America’s Next Top Model (CW) 9:00 PM ET
The “British Invasion” concludes with a holographic runway show, which I guess shows us — while most people will see Anderson Cooper interview a hologram of and think “This is what CNN has come to?” Tyra thinks she needs to get in on that action.

Hot in Cleveland (TV Land) 10:00 PM ET
Victoria becomes the latest soap star to think the internet can save her show… eh, I say she’s better off trying to get herself a role on Venice: The Series.

Around the World in 80 Plates (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
The next stop is Marrakech, Morocco where the teams have to make the traditional North African dish tagine amid accusations of sabotage. And, somehow, this more-drama-less-cooking mess is still an improvement on the last season of Top Chef Masters.

White Heat (BBC America) 10:00 PM ET
As the action moves to 1979, Jay decides it’s time he came out to his parents. Too bad Jay’s older self can’t tell him that there’s no way that conversation could go as badly as the clothes he’s probably wearing in 1979.

Happily Divorced (TV Land) 10:30 PM ET
Yikes. Tonight’s episode has Judy Reyes, who was one of my favorite parts of Scrubs… as the wife of the stereotypical Cesar. Please tell me Reyes isn’t going to be stuck playing a character who seems to have gotten away from the diner set of 2 Broke Girls

Watch What Happens Live (Bravo) 11:00 PM ET
Tonight, Andy’s guests are Joey Lawrence and Steve Guttenberg.

What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
