Starz gets in on the midcentury action with Magic City.

Former Empty Nest star Park Overall will be running for the Democratic nomination in Tennessee, saying that the recent anti-choice Blunt Amendment convinced her to run for office. This makes me hope she was barely acting when she played Laverne.

Bad news for those of you who enjoyed The Fades, BBC Three has decided not to commission a second season.

With Bent looking pretty dead, David Walton has joined the Greg Berlanti comedy pilot about a man who goes from womanizer to realizing his business partner of 15 years (JoAnna Garcia) is his soulmate. So they've found a way to mix the awfulness of Perfect Couples with the blandness of Better with You?

It already inspired the Matt Damon movie The Informant, now This American Life is inspiring a TV project. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is teaming up with Owen Wilson and Ira Glass to develop a show based on the story of a man who went from meth smuggler, copywriter to missing persons investigator.

NBC is working on a reality series, Stars Earn Stripes where nine celebrities will train for a weekly military-themed challenge.

Are you looking to spend time with other fans of The Vampire Diaries? A series of Vampire Diaries conventions will tour the country — with stops in Chicago, San Francisco and New Jersey. I have to wonder if there's going to be some awkwardness at these conventions considering how author L.J. Smith was fired from writing future installments of the book series.

Now that there's so little history on The History Channel, sister network The Military Channel is expanding to historical shows, including Spy vs. Spy, which will tell stories about international espionage, and just made it to the top of my list of TV shows I want to watch with Rachel Maddow.

I'd like to retitle this list 25 shows Fox should totally honor at its 25th anniversary. Funny, I was just trying to explain Mr. Personality to my partner the other day.

Friday's Listings

The Bones spin-off moves to a new time in an episode directed by David Boreanaz, with appearances by 50 Cent and Salli Richardson-Whitfield. I'm going to try to just be happy the show is back.

Who Do You Think You Are? (NBC) 8:00 PM ET

Before Nurse Jackie starts its fourth season, Edie Falco is exploring her family history, a journey that takes her to Milwaukee and England.

Degrassi (TeenNick) 9:00 PM ET

Eli and Imogen's relationship hits a bump when Eli catches her in a lie. Good thing he's got Adam to keep him grounded... and likable.

Fairly Legal (USA) 9:00 PM ET

Kate's latest cast involves figuring out an aeronautics worker's severance package.

Nick and Juliette's relationship has felt like it's been on borrowed time ever since the pilot episode and a romantic getaway isn't going to make things much better, especially when his new neighbors turn out to be creatures.

In Plain Sight (USA) 10:00 PM ET

Mary's had terrible clients in the past but this week she's working to protect a bigamist hiding from his two wives. I guess this is the week Mary realizes the men she's had in her life aren't so bad, after all.

20/20 (ABC) 10:00 PM ET

Barbara Walters will be talking with transgender beauty contestant Jenna Talackova.

Magic City (Starz) 10:00 PM ET

Starz' new drama has Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the owner of a luxury Miami hotel in 1959 as he deals with the mob, Frank Sinatra and Castro's revolution in Cuba. Basically, think Mad Men on a channel that allows for nudity and swearing... or the show The Playboy Club hoped it could be.

Monty Python's biggest controversy is the topic of Holy Flying Circus.

To Kill a Mockingbird (USA) 8:00 PM ET

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic film (and the centennial of Universal Films) USA is airing a remastered and restored edition with a special introduction by President Obama.

We're at the season's penultimate episode as everyone tries to get ready to deal with the Old Ones.

Holy Flying Circus (Ovation) 9:00 PM ET

Ovation brings a "Pythonesque" movie about the religious controversy that followed the Monty Python gang upon the release of Life of Brian. How Pythonesque? It has Stephen Fry as God. It'll be good to see God weigh in on that kerfuffle, even if he did take a few decades.

Saturday Night Live (NBC) 11:30 PM ET

Sofia Vergara makes her debut as guest-host this week. Is there a pool on how many sketches will be about her accent versus the number that will focus on her figure?

Kathy's back in a new season of The Big C.

Sunday's Listings

As incredible as the footage on programs like Frozen Planet may be, the story of how they got that footage is just as amazing. Thus, what has been a bonus segment in previous series gets its own episode this week.

Titanic: The Final Word with James Cameron (National Geographic) 8:00 PM ET

James Cameron revisits the sinking of the Titanic, consulting with engineers, naval architects, artists and historians to see if there are any remaining unanswered questions about the legendary disaster. Watch this before all the Titanic movies start airing next week so you can compare and contrast the inaccuracies of the different films.

The Apprentice (NBC) 9:00 PM ET

The producers are promising plenty of drama as the celebrities are tasked with creating a commercial for a website.

Chopped: All Stars (Food Network) 9:00 PM ET

It's time for another All Star competition as another sixteen chefs face Chopped's mystery baskets, starting with four chefs from Iron Chef USA.

Game of Thrones (HBO) 9:00 PM ET

It's time for old wounds to be remembered (probably literally) as Theon returns home for the first time in nine years, while Tyrion asserts his power. Then things get really confusing when a prankster switches Tyrion and Theon's names in the remaining script pages. No, wait, that's from my fanfic where the citizens of Westeros have as much trouble keeping track of the different characters as viewers who haven't read the books.

We've got a double-feature of GCB as Carlene considers making amends with Amanda through her upcoming ceremony to renew her marriage vows, and Pastor Tudor turns the town upside down with his praise of a healthy sex life.

Nurse Jackie (Showtime) 9:00 PM ET

As the fourth season begins, All Saints is under new management asJackie has to deal with new corporate management looking to change how the hospital does business.

The Big C (Showtime) 9:30 PM ET

When I first heard of The Big C, I expected another Showtime dramedy about a woman who is difficult to love but has her quirky charms and a much more tolerable supporting cast (okay, there's no one in Nancy Botwin's life who is bearable anymore). Instead, The Big C turned out to be a remarkable drama about reexamining your life after getting a little too comfortable with the status quo. (That said, there's no way I'm ever letting my partner watch a show where a woman dumps her husband for not closing the cabinet doors.) For the third season, there's a faboo list of guest stars, including Susan Sarandon, Mamie Gumer, Victor Garber and Allison Janney.

Lifetime takes a movie-of-the-week about a brothel in suburbia and turns it into a weekly drama. The cast is pretty faboo, with Jennifer Love Hewitt as a single mom who takes a job at a spa that turns out to have a secret list of special services, Cybill Shepherd as her mom and Loretta Devine as the "spa" manager, along with a number of hunky clients.

Mad Men (AMC) 10:00 PM ET

As usual, the information about this week's episode is pretty vague but Joan makes a big decision. I'm guessing it'll involve whether she should say something about Michael's hideous blazer before anyone at SCDP starts thinking they're in style, now.

The Shahs of Sunset (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET

Reza heads to Long Island to meet with his father. As with many such trips, there's family drama waiting for him back home, including a secret about the family history. I guess we won't be seeing him on Who Do you Think You Are? anytime soon.

Watch What Happens Live (Bravo) 11:00 PM ET

Andy is following the latest Shahs of Sunset episode by interviewing MJ and Sammy.

The Pitch (AMC) 11:04 PM ET

AMC's second attempt at reality TV delivers a real world take on the world of advertising, following what ad agencies go through to win over new clients. I'm not a fan of those kinds of stories in scripted shows about advertising, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed the reality TV version will feel less cliched.

The Week Ahead

We've got a new round of spring programming coming but first there's a busy Monday that includes a new Inside the Actor's Studio featuring the cast of Glee, a little something called The NewNowNext Awards along with the finales of RuPaul's Drag Race and Being Human.

There's even more Glee on Tuesday as the series returns with new episodes and gets a special on The History Channel. FX also has the finale of Justified. ABC's comedy line-up returns Wednesday to help bring viewers to the debut of Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23. Thursday brings the season finale of Up All Night which will be replaced by new episodes of Parks & Recreation.
