TV on Tap: “Mockingbird Lane” Casts Its Herman, “Game of Thrones” Wants Adam Scott and a Strong Start for “Teen Wolf”

Another group of aspiring Glee stars compete for their dream role tonight.

Mockingbird Lane has found its Herman, he’ll be played by Jerry O’Connell. I’m trying to imagine O’Connell as Herman, so this seems like another sign of how much the show is going to shake things up.

White Collar is going to get even hunkier when Victor Webster appears in an episode as a Wall Street trader.

Frances Conroy and X bassist John Doe have joined the cast of Ring of Fire, the Lifetime movie about June Carter Cash. Conroy will play June’s mother while Doe will play June’s uncle.

Showrunners are the new rock stars, which shows how much attention dedicated fans pay to their shows. Of course, that goes both ways, see what happens when you mention Marti Noxon to certain Buffy or Grey’s Anatomy fans.

The producers of Game of Thrones want Adam Scott to make a guest appearance in an “explicit and expository sex scene.” What do I have to do to help make this happen? Don’t make me break down and watch Tell Me You Love Me.

Yesterday, when I reported that networks are interested in Westerns again thanks to the success of Hatfields & McCoys, I thought they should wait to see how A&E’s western, Longmire does to get a better idea of the trend. It turns out the new series was A&E’s most-watched original scripted series debut, so get ready for more westerns..

Ratings for the MTV Movie awards were down 28%. The awards probably weren’t helped by competition by the likes of Game of Thrones’ finale. However the second-season premiere of Teen Wolf was down only 5% from the first season premiere.

HGTV Design Star (HGTV) 9:00 PM ET
As usual, week two of Design Star brings us to the White Rooms — and this time the designers are limited to the materials they can find at a garden store.

Chopped (Food Network) 10:00 PM ET
This week’s mystery baskets include an appetizer that includes gummy candy and corned beef (two of my favorite things that I’ve never thought of combining).

Franklin & Bash (TNT) 10:00 PM ET
While I was a little burned out on legal dramas by the time Franklin & Bash debuted last year, I saw that some of you certainly enjoyed getting to see Mark-Paul Gosselaar on your TV again. A new season begins tonight, I’m still not sure if I’m ready for more lawyers on my DVR.

The Glee Project (Oxygen) 10:00 PM ET
For its second season, The Glee Project returns with a very diverse cast that includes a visually impaired competitor, a transgender hopeful, a wheelchair bound performer and a lesbian who looks like Justin Bieber (no, really, you might remember her from last season on America’s Got Talent).

Tosh.0 (Comedy Central) 10:00 PM ET
Daniel sets up his own Kickstarter and gives a web redemption to a skater who got hit by a truck and survived.

Workaholics (Comedy Central) 10:30 PM ET
When the guys decide they need to find a new drug dealer, they… well, do you think they find a reasonable and even-tempered drug dealer (especially one who resembles Rumer Willis)?

Savage U (MTV) 11:30 PM ET
Dan’s heading to Tulane, where he’ll encounter a bisexual woman in the midst of a love triangle.

The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS) 11:35 PM EST
Neil Patrick Harris will be appearing on tonight’s show to discuss how he’s going to make the Tonys amah-zing

What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!

Lyle Masaki is a fan of obscure superheroes, video games, adorkable guys and that show you loved that got cancelled way too soon.
