"The Notebook" Comes To TV, Kate McKinnon On "Difficult People" And "The Flash" Delivers An Amazing Homage: TV ON TAP

Plus Britney Spears will visit "Jane The Virgin"

News

Rick Schroder and Jennifer Nettles have joined the cast of A Coat of Many Colors, the NBC movie inspired by moments in Dolly Parton's childhood. Schroder and Nettles will play Parton's parents.

The Flash gave us the first look at Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick in the most amazing way possible.

The comic on the left is the cover for the classic story "The Flash of Two Worlds where Barry Allen originally met Jay Garrick. It's amazing to have a superhero TV show that wears its love of the genre on its sleeve.

Blasphemy! You can't make a Friday the 13th TV series with no cursed antiques! Include Jason Vorhees and Camp Silverlake if you must but there has to be items with an ironic curse/gift combination.

Showtime's Twin Peaks sequel series will begin filming next month but it might not be ready to debut until 2017.

Britney Spears is set to play herself on Jane the Virgin. She'll be performing at the Marbella, which gives Rogelio a chance to act on his long, bitter rivalry with the pop star. We don't know if Spears is aware that she's involved in a long, bitter rivalry with Rogelio. That will be fun to discover.

When they filmed that Degrassi: The Next Generation reunion special, they also filmed material for a web series hosted by Adamo Ruggiero. You can always get my attention by promising some Adamo.

Brace yourselves. The CW wants to turn The Notebook into a TV series. The series would be a follow-up to the movie, following the characters as they deal with the societal changes that came after WWII. If they say they're just using The Notebook as an excuse to remake Homefront, I'll be okay with it.

Unlike how American Horror Story leaves viewers muttering "Worst. Season. Ever." only to get record ratings, the second-season finale of True Detective saw ratings drop 22% from last year. That was still enough to draw a respectable 2.72 million viewers.

Difficult People (Hulu) streaming

Andy Cohen shows up, as Billy gets his big chance to be on TV as the bartender on Watch What Happens Live. Too bad Andy remembers what Julie said about him in her Real Housewives recap from 2011. Even better, this week's episode has Kate McKinnon as Williamsburg's premiere sober magician, and John Benjamin Hickey as one of her fans (and, worse, a guy who volunteers for the audience participation moments of a show).

America's Next Top Model (CW) 8:00 PM ET

So. Did Tyra really start out a season of a reality show in media res? That's annoying enough on a scripted show but on reality TV, uhboy. Usually, the second episode of the season features a catwalk challenge involving some kind of ridiculously-challenging catwalk. Instead this week the hopefuls move into the new house and meet the Property Brothers.

Big Brother (CBS) 8:00 PM ET

Woah. That was a surprising twist to this season. So, John, Steven and Becky really live in the house? I was thinking John mostly existed in some other plane of existence, returning to our world only when production needed some funny narration or when Clelli needed a pawn to throw the Battle of the Block challenge. Tonight brings the veto competition and Steve's future as a guy who makes Big Brother say, "Steve, stop that" is at stake.

[image src="wp-attachment://218733" title="Kevin from Work" alt="Amy Sedaris in Kevin from Work"]

Kevin from Work (ABC Family) 8:00 PM ET

ABC Family's comedies are usual multi-camera shows, but here we've got a single camera show about an office worker with an unrequited crush on the woman who works in the next cubicle, and who has a terrible boyfriend she doesn't deserve. Does that sound like the love triangle from The Office? Yeah, it kinda does but it also has Amy Sedaris as the self-centered, frequently-inappropriate boss, and that's probably enough to merit waiting to see if this show ends up being LGBT inclusive the way ABC Family shows usually are.

Skin Wars (GSN) 9:00 PM ET

Season one winner Natalie Fletcher returns to guest judge tonight's challenge, where the final four have to give their models a paint job that makes them disappear into a nature backdrop.

[image src="wp-attachment://218736" title="Janeane Garofalo on The Jim Gaffigan Show" alt="Janeane Garofalo on The Jim Gaffigan Show"]

The Jim Gaffigan Show (TV Land) 10:00 PM ET

Janeane Garofalo shows up tonight as a teacher at the very free-thinking school where Jim's kids attend. She's thrilled to show Jim the drawing his son made, but its subject matter is something that Jim would sooner throw in the shredder than put up on the refrigerator. Since this a comedy that can't resist a worn-out trope, I'm sure you can guess what happens when Jim is asked to drop off a very important application.

Flipping Out (Bravo) 9:00 PM ET

Jeff and Gage are fighting thanks to the stress of moving and how they never properly mourned Stewie the cat's death.

[image src="wp-attachment://216631" title="Mr Robot" alt="Mr Robot"]

Mr Robot (USA) 10:00 PM ET

Okay, what? When I compared Tyrell to American Psycho, I was mostly expecting rampant corporate ambition in a cold, soulless shell and clean, upscale style that looks like it's never been touched by an actual human. I wasn't expecting Tyrell to actually start killing people, though at least that murder was nothing like American Psycho. Somehow, tonight's episode says that Tyrell and Joanna's plan goes "into full effect." After he made that face? What are Mr and Mrs Profit up to? Also, Elliot meets White Rose.

I Am Jazz (TLC) 10:00 PM ET

Ari learns some shocking news about her friend. I'm guessing it might have something to do with the title, "So the Dad is Now Mom?" Meanwhile, the Jennings family deals with a death threat posted in a comment thread.

Buddy isn't the only one with a a dark past, tonight he's got to help Alexa deal with her history. Meanwhile, Dora's niceness is challenged when her ex-boyfriend's fiancee asks for help with her wedding dress.
