Unsurprisingly, a few people felt the need to mark Jon Stewart's final Daily Show with a big plate of sour grapes, like Don Lemon, who seems to think there's a context where he makes sense.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reminds us that Jon Stewart also hosted a short-lived BBC talk show, Where's Elvis This Week. The series ran for five episodes in 1996, not long after The Jon Stewart Show's syndicated run ended.

Was there anything else important on TV last night? Aside from Rachel Maddow's incredible tribute to Jon Stewart? Oh, yeah, who caught last night's marvelous Review?

USA is adapting the 2007 movie Shooter with Ryan Phillippe in the lead role. Phillippe will play a former Marine sniper who is lured back into a mission to prevent an assassination attempt on the President, only to end up framed for the attempt.

Lee Daniels is working on his next project for Fox, another music industry drama. However, this one will focus on a girl group from Atlanta. While Daniels doesn't mean it to be an Empire spin-off, the two shows are set in the same world and could easily cross over.

However, there could easily be an Empire spin-off, like a prequel about Cookie's upbringing in North Philadelphia.

James Franco will star in the HBO pilot The Deuce, playing twins battling for control of New York's porn industry in the 70s. The drama comes from The Wire creator David Simon.

Netflix is developing a new series for Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman. However, this series will have the time-traveling duo hosting a late night talk show where their guests will include the likes of Mozart, Napoleon and Edgar Allan Poe.

Is it much of a surprise that Jason Sudeikis will return to Last Man on Earth? With the way that first season ended it would be disappointing if Sudeikis didn't return. Remember when we'd hear about guest casting for Last Man on Earth and it invoked a sense of mystery, not annoyance at the ever growing number of companions to the "last" man on earth?

Madchen Amick has been memorably-great in several short-lived deliciously-campy series, some well-remembered (Twin Peaks), most quickly forgotten (Central Park West, Fantasy Island, The Witches of East End). With that in mind, it's a little surprising she is only now appearing on American Horror Story. Amick will appear in scenes with Chloe Sevigny's character. Here's how she announced the role:

A side effect of binge watching is that pretty much every memorable TV show will come back, even shows that mesmerized viewers for one season and then spent the next few seasons alienating those fans.

Tom Everett Scott is joining the third season of Reign as a trusted advisor to Queen Elizabeth. Oh, and this season of Reign will include Queen Elizabeth's court.

When John has to take shelter from a toxic storm, he finds himself sharing it with a criminal gang. When he gets out of this (let's hope John gets to use lots of tech in battle again), he'll have stories to trade since Dutch and D'avin find themselves caught in the worst of the storm. Then again, "trapped in a dangerous storm together" for a couple that has been heavy on the sexual tension usually means... something that D'avin and Dutch probably won't share with John.
