TV on Tap: HBO Has Its Door Open To A Third "Comeback" Season, NBC Imports "Red Nose Day" And "Supergirl" Trailer Gets 10 Million Views

News

Bruce Greenwood has joined the cast of American Crime Story as prosecutor Gil Garcetti.

A strong debut is looking likely for Supergirl with a trailer that has been watched over 10 million times. According to AdWeek, that's a bigger audience than all of the big four networks' other fall trailers combined. (Notice the brag avoids a comparison to the trailer for DC's Legends of Tomorrow. I'm guessing it did pretty well, too.) The debut episode looks poised to get big ratings, now the question is if it can keep those viewers.

The Comeback co-creator Michael Patrick King told The Hollywood Reporter that there's an "open door" at HBO for a third season of The Comeback but first they need an idea worth making, and HBO is willing to give them the time. Don't make me dream for nothing, people.

David Letterman didn't just have a long run as a late night TV host, he changed the course of television by giving broadcast TV the first successful challenger to The Tonight Show (Arsenio Hall came before Letterman but didn't last very long) and for being such a prolific producer with TV shows like The Late Late ShowEverybody Loves Raymond and Bonnie.

Vulture says the best superhero show on TV is The Flash for its ability to break away from Batman's shadow, making sure to keep its villains fun and managing to make characters look like they came out of the comics while still looking pretty realistic.

Grant Gustin, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panakater and Robbie Amell in "THe Flash"

The latest cast change to Unforgettable is the addition of Skeet Ulrich who won't be playing a new character but will be taking over the role of Carrie's husband, previously played by Michael Dempsey.

With controversy over the latest depiction of rape on Game of Thrones still raging, MTV News talked with Degrassi producer Linda Schuyler about depicting rape. It's a bit of an odd comparison, since Degrassi is focused on addressing contemporary social issues and Game of Thrones is... something very different.

So that punch happened, and it was nowhere as good as I hoped. I'm sure someone else will want to punch Will soon enough if his personality stays the same. I'll keep my fingers crossed today is a little more lively as Paul gets frustrated with his father.

Red Nose Day (NBC) 8:00 PM ET

The UK comedy charity event crosses the pond for a three-hour broadcast hosted by Jane Krakowski, Seth Meyers and David Duchovny (each hosting one hour solo). Wayward Pines (Fox) 9:00 PM ET

Okay, I'm pretty wary about stories involving creepy/mysterious towns, but somehow last week's pilot got through all the defenses from Prisoner reboots, premium cable Rapture dramas and shows set on infuriating islands. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't mess that up. Tonight, Ethan's investigation leads him to the body of a fellow Secret Service agent.

Lip Sync Battle (Spike) 10:00 PM ET

Say it isn't so! It's a house divided as Salt and Pepa face off. Let's hope that once a winner is crowned the rivalry can be put aside so they can go back to telling people when to push things.

Louie (FX) 10:30 PM ET

It's the beginning of a two-part story as Louie hits the road. I'm guessing it's a comedy tour?
