TV on Tap: Rosie O'Donnell Returns to "The View," TCM Remembers Lauren Bacall and Luke Perry Gets "Cyber"

News

Kathy Griffin says that a CBS executive told her that the network was not thinking of hiring a woman to host The Late Late Show and that there isn't a need to consider a female host when women already host The Talk?.

Via TVLine, here's Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer on Arrow.

ABC is developing a comedy reuniting Beverly D'Angelo with her Vacation co-star Chevy Chase. The proposed series would see the pair playing a married couple who find themselves unexpectedly raising their grandchildren.

TVLine reports that Luke Perry has joined the growing list of additions to the CSI: Cyber cast. Perry will have a recurring role as a former FBI agent who would have been in charge of the department, but after a downfall he now works in the private sector.

TNT has renewed Murder in the First for a second season. Presumably, only Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson will be back as the series takes on a new case.

Mandy Moore will appear on Red Band Society in a recurring role as the hospital chief-of-staff who is also the ex of Dave Annable's character.

The debut of the Friday edition of Utopia dropped even further. While that's expected for the Friday show, it struggled against repeats. Ratings are unlikely to get better against original fall programming.

It's a new day for ABC's daytime staple, as Rosie O'Donnell returns to the show, joined by Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. Even better, there's a new producer. Instead of the guy who O'Donnell says would review Republican talking points with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, we've got longtime Rachel Maddow Show producer Bill Wolff. Considering how bad The View got last year, this version is bound to be a smarter show, but will it manage to improve to the point where it's good TV?

Is the hug code for "We don't talk over each other anymore"? Let's hope.

Dancing with the Stars (ABC) 8:00 PM ET

It's a new season with Lea Thompson and Alfonso Ribeiro bringing the nostalgia, Tavis Smiley and fashion designer Betsey Johnson mixing some wild cards into the deck while Antonio Sabato Jr will probably get the numbers that play up his sex appeal.

Lauren Bacall Memorial Marathon (TCM) starting at 8:00 PM ET

TCM remembers film legend Lauren Bacall with a 24-hour marathon.

It starts with a double feature of Bacall with Humphrey Bogart, To Have and Have Not at 9PM followed by The Big Sleep at 11PM. At 1AM, Bacall is joined by Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable in How to Marry a Millionaire. Paul Newman and Julie Harris join Bacall in Harper at 3:45AM. Bacall stars with Kirk Douglas and Doris Day in Young Man with a Horn at 8Am. Another Bogart-Bacall double-feature starts at 10AM with Dark Passage followed by Key Largo at Noon.

American Ninja Warrior: USA Vs. the World (NBC) 8:00 PM ET

We had another year with no victories to enjoy, so maybe we'll feel better watching a competition where athletes battle Midoriyama and someone gets a trophy in the end. Five American Ninja Warrior standouts face five veterans of the original Sasuke and a team from Europe. I'm disappointed that Team Japan doesn't include anyone who beat the course, but I always like seeing Shingo Yamamoto.

Dallas (TNT) 9:00 PM ET

With members of the Ewing and Ryland families in jeopardy, the two clans try to work together against the cartel.

America's Next Top Model (CW) 9:00 PM ET

Things start with Tyra telling the models to "make love to the camera" but once she's done hazing them with cliches, she makes them walk the runway in stilts.

High Moon (Syfy) 9:00 PM ET

We won't get a new Bryan Fuller series from Syfy, but tonight we get to see what could have been as it airs the rejected pilot. Based on The Lotus Caves, this series would have started with the discovery of life on the moon. While there's no mention of grim reapers, serial killers or asking dead people how they died, the ad certainly promise the vivid palate and striking visuals familiar to Fuller's fans.
