TV on Tap: "Game of Thrones" Needs More Peen, Syfy Cancels "Helix" and Ryan Phillippe Up For Marvel Role

News

The Daily Beast thinks there's a peen problem with Game of Thrones. With the way the show goes out of its way to include female nudity, they argue it's distracting when camera angles and shadow similarly go out of the way to avoid frontal male nudity. There have been a few instances, but the article names several times when the show really should have gone there, but didn't.

After two seasons, Syfy has cancelled contagion thriller Helix. I had high hopes for the series, which counted Battlestar Galatica boss Ron Moore as a producer, but it never came together for me. Surely there's a show out there that will turn out to be ready for Billy Campbell's charm and talent.

Hulu will exclusively carry the streaming rights for new shows by AMC along with sister channels BBC America, IFC, WEtv and Sundance. The first show to debut under the deal will be Fear the Walking Dead. Hulu previously made a similar deal with FX.

The H2 channel is getting another revamp turning to Vice Media for "lifestyle-themed documentary programming aimed at the millennial set." The new channel will debut early in 2016.

Ryan Phillippe says he's in talks to play a Marvel character for a Netflix show. Too bad Bleeding Cool's speculation on what that role may be doesn't get me very excited about the casting. If only Netflix were making a Quasar series, that could be fun.

Netflix has ordered a 13-episode series based on Green Eggs and Ham produced by Ellen DeGeneres. I'm eager to find out how they turn that book into several hours of TV.

I've been looking at Damien with cautious anticipation. It sounds great on paper but after the disappointment that was The Lottery, I wasn't sure if Lifetime was the best place for an Omen-inspired TV series. So it's heartening that the series is moving to A&E which has at least one great show inspired by a classic horror movie with Bates Motel.
