TV on Tap: “Supernatural” Has a Musical 200th Episode, “Sesame Street” Turned 45 and “The Simpsons” Get a “Futurama” Bump

Wayne Knight will be appearing in a second season episode of Sirens. The Hollywood Reporter describes his role as a pompous bachelor with a fear of hospitals that prevents him from getting treatment.

Transit departments in Los Angeles and New York have rejected an ad for Bravo’s upcoming drama Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. Amusingly the New York MTA’s rejection objected to “implied inappropriate creative.” Bravo says it plans on placing the ads elsewhere, like in articles about the ad being rejected.

Roseanne has booked a guest appearance on new sitcom Christela as the estranged wife of Sam McMurray’s character.

Yesterday was the 45th anniversary of Sesame Street and The Atlantic marked the occasion by remembering how they panned the influential program when they originally reviewed it. To be fair, they did recognize the greatness of Ernie and Bert.

Meanwhile, EW collects some of Sesame Street’s recent parodies of shows too mature for the average Sesame Street viewer.

Did you need a guide to the reality TV references made in the Comeback premiere? Sadly, I caught all of the references. Okay, I’m not sad about that. I loved the Lisa Vanderpump cameo.

The Simpsons/Futurama Crossover

The meeting of two Matt Groening-created shows was good for a ratings bump. The Simpsons gained about a ratings point for Sunday’s Futurama crossover.

Meanwhile, a drive-by gag in that crossover joked about Ralph dying in 2017. Some fans speculated that another character would be dying in a few years, but it was just a joke.
