TV on Tap: “Teen Wolf” Gay Hookup, Finales for “Defiance” and “Warehouse 13”

At the very least, we know who Starz wants to star in its upcoming adaptaiton of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander. Friday, the network sent out a premature tweet announcing that Sam Heughan had been cast in the lead role, reports Deadline. However, it turned out the channel was still negotiating with the actor. Based on my attempts to find a picture of him, I need to find a copy of A Very British Sex Scandal.

The only major TV station in New Jersey, WWOR, has dropped its nightly news in favor of a newsmagazine, lead by a “ringleader” and “chasers” reporting on stories. Since most of New Jersey is covered by stations in New York or Philadelphia, WWOR is expected by FCC regulators to focus on local news. The Fox-owned station has faced an FCC investigation in 2011 about its news coverage, if successful, it looks like stations in Texas and Florida will get similar shows.

Two Big Brother houseguests have already lost their jobs over racist comments caught on the live feeds, but what about the guy who argued for the benefits of Nazi medical experiments and called gay houseguest Andy “Kermit the Fag”? His employer, put out a statement saying they’re “acting in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement terms.”

The A.V. Club has a fascinating interview with a reality TV producer about how reality TV is put together and the ethics that come into play when trying to create a story out of what cameras caught.

US Weekly reports that Jenny McCarthy is a likely pick to be Joy Behar’s replacement on The View. Another frequent guest-host, Brooke Shields is negotiating to take Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s spot.

Defiance Marathon (Syfy) starting at 11:00 AM ET
My attempts to check out Syfy’s latest series were largely defeated by my fiance’s MMO addictions, but thankfully Syfy is revisiting the first season leading into tonight’s season finale.

Switched at Birth (ABC Family) 8:00 PM ET
ABC Family puts out its own version of What If….? with this episode that wonders what life would be like if Regina sounded the alarm about the baby switch. Much like many a classic What If…?, things turn out much worse when we step away from the main continuity, with John, Kathryn, and Daphne all getting in touch with their insufferable twins.

Gasland Part II (HBO) 9:00 PM ET
The documentary that introduced us to flammable water in Farmington, New Mexico (where groundwater and rainfall is plentiful, so it doesn’t matter if a bunch of it is polluted) continues to investigate the dangers of hydraulic fracturing. Yes, that does include finding a new place where you don’t want to let any open flames get too close to the plumbing.

Gasland Part III wish that didn’t look so cool.

Defiance (Syfy) 9:00 PM ET
For the season finale, Defiance wraps with a mayoral election. I hope Defiance has its own Rachel Maddow, looking for a chance to play the election night fanfare.

The Fosters (ABC Family) 9:00 PM ET
First off, what’s up with Jude and Connor? Is ABC Family about to give us another reason to wish it were around when we were little? In the meantime, it’s time for an awkward family dinner with Jesus’ girlfriend’s religious conservative parents and Stef’s dad (played by Sam McMurray) who is there primarily to make sure the dinner version of Crossfire has enough conservatives.

Major Crimes (TNT) 9:00 PM ET
We’re going to meet Mister Raydor, who quickly ends up making friends with Rusty. Too bad Sharon’s not thrilled about the development, demanding that he spend some time with their son.

Major Crimes, "DOA"

Below Deck (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
The crew have to deal with a hypnotist whose picky diet makes him a real pain to work for.

Teen Wolf (MTV) 10:00 PM ET
The bus trip in an endless traffic jam leads to a stay in a motel straight out of nightmares, where it seems like the evil druid is stalking new prey. Somebody form a protection circle around Stiles now!

Teen Wolf, "Motel california"Oh and there’s the bonus of a gay love scene.

Under the Dome (CBS) 10:00 PM ET
Things continue to fall apart at incredible speed. Barbie is being deputized in order to deal with some lawmen who’ve decided they’d rather live by their own law. So far, the citizens of Chester’s Mill have had to do the work of the fire department and, now, the police. Which city service will they perform next? I hope there’s a library emergency next, forcing the town to work together to get their books shelved properly.

Warehouse 13 (Syfy) 10:00 PM ET
For the penultimate finale, the team have to stop Paracelsus, but following the pattern of previous finales, victory will probably create a new mess to clean up.

What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!

Lyle Masaki is a fan of obscure superheroes, video games, adorkable guys and that show you loved that got cancelled way too soon.
