TV on Tap: The Moment “Glee” Fell Apart, “Portlandia” Is The U.S. “Black Mirror” And Jude Takes A Stand On “The Fosters” Finale

Portlandia is known for being about hipster trends like local food and twee crafts, but Gizmodo argues that the sketch comedy show doesn’t get enough credit for its critique of technology’s influence on our culture. From sketches about deleting your social media profiles, fear of damaging your iPhone and stalking the writer of a negative Yelp review it may be the U.S. version of Black Mirror.

Looking creator Michael Lannan tells TVLine he feels “cautiously optimistic” about the series’ chance of getting a third season, citing support from HBO. I’m going to need to look and see if Mike White made any similar comments before his HBO series, Enlightened, got the axe after two seasons. Come on HBO, don’t pull a Valerie Cherish on this one.

Vox thinks that Glee fell apart in its second episode, when it turned out that Teri was faking her pregnancy. It’s not the ridiculous, over-the-top nature of the storyline. It took a story where a character was faced with a difficult choice and made any sacrifice meaningless. Will didn’t have to decide between his baby and New Directions, anymore. It was the first of many moments when a tough choice would be rendered meaningless.

Oh, CNN. You shouldn’t try to make a video that invokes Too Many Cooks. Maybe you could find something to turn into holograms, instead? Maybe you could give Anderson Cooper a holographic pet sloth.

There have been some deeply hidden easter eggs hidden in episodes of Archer. I’m amazed at the kind of dedication it took to sleuth these out.
