A musical comedy headed to Broadway will feature songs by pop superstar Britney Spears.
According to The New York Times, Once Upon A One More Time will include 23 of the Spears’ hits. The show isn’t about the pop star; it’s actually a humorous take on several Disney classics including Cinderella and Prince Charming.
“Cinderella is having an existential crisis, and she has a posse of famous princesses, and her stepmother is the main antagonist, and there’s also Prince Charming and a dwarf we’ve never met—the eighth dwarf—and a narrator who is unhappy his system is being dismantled before his eyes,” the show’s bookwriter, Jon Hartmere told the NYT. Hartmere also co-wrote the gay musical Bare: a Pop Opera.
When the news hit the net, social media users did what they do best—provide hilarious social commentary.

It was announced a new Broadway Musical will explore story arcs of classic Princesses and feature 23 songs by Britney Spears. To make it more modern, producers are replacing “Under the Sea”. Instead, Ariel’s song about living in the ocean will be “Toxic”.#britneyspears
