"Two Carloads" Of Men Descend On Grindr User In Vicious Attack

A gang of thieves posing as a Grindr user have been terrorizing members of New Zealand's LGBT community.

A New Zealand man was robbed and beaten when his Grindr date turned into a brutal assault.

The Auckland native, believed to be in his early thirties, arranged to meet his internet suitor at his home. However, when his date showed up, he reportedly brought two carloads of his violently homophobic friends along with him.

According to community advocate Karen Ritchie, the men rolled into his house with a shotgun, which they used to beat him before stealing his car.

Upon hearing of the incident, Ritchie took to the internet to warn other members of the Auckland LGBT community about the vicious gang.

“I have been made aware of a gang of thieves posing as a guy on Grindr who have used a gun and various other weapons to rob and humiliate one of our community members and possibly others and will be targeting gay men as you read this" the statement began.

"This isn't fake this is real," it continued. "Please be aware, don't meet up unless you're in a busy public place these scum are very serious and I don't want anyone hurt or killed by these animals."

Though the victim has declined to be interviewed, Ritchie spoke on his behalf to local news stations, reporting that he was distraught and in shock.

In response to the attacks, popular gay New Zealand entertainer Mika spoke out about safety precautions one should take when meeting an internet date in real life.

“There's rules to live by, when you're cyber dating," he began.

"One—no face, no phone number, no meet. If you're gonna turn up and see someone, you do it in a public place in the day."

"Write the phone number of a registration plate, their phone number, take pictures of their face, put it on your phone and send it to a mate before you go out," he continued. "If you get in trouble, you can say, just so you know before you even touch me, I've sent this to a mate."

As of this writing, police are still on the lookout for the alleged assailants, whom they plan to charge with aggravated robbery.
