"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" Given Season 3 Renewal Before Season 2 Even Drops

Crack open the Pinot Noir!

Weeks after Broad City was given a fourth and fifth season renewal ahead of its season 3 premiere, comes the welcome news that Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, has been greenlit for a third season ahead of its second season premiere (which isn't until April).

In an unexpectedly delightful showing of faith, Netflix announced the renewal during the show's panel at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour yesterday.

"The Internet is not a person. Nor is it a governing body," producer Tina Fey told the crowd when asked about vocal online critics. "People have the freedom to write what they want. We also have the freedom to not care.

Fey revealed that fan-favorite Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess) will have a "grown-up" relationship during the show's upcoming season and explained that episodes would be longer now that they're being produced for Netflix (the first season was originally conceived for NBC, who later passed on the series).

As for Jane Krakowsi's Jacqueline? “She’s trying to learn what her life is now that she’s no longer Mrs. Voorhies. Now she’s Jacqueline White, and trying to stand on her own two feet,” said Krakowski during the panel. “I think she really does have a greater understanding of what the world is about by the end of the season.” Fey also added, “She’s sort of on a mission to help her family and realizes that the best way to do that is not necessarily going back and trying to live with them but by trying some other stuff.”

The Unbreakable Kimmmy Schmidt Season 2 will stream on Netflix in its entirety on April 15
